Automate QR Campaign Work with Shopify Flow
FlashWombat connects to Shopify Flow so you can create, maintain, and monitor QR campaigns as part of a store workflow. You decide what starts the workflow, which conditions must be true, and what happens next.
Shopify Flow is optional. Installing FlashWombat does not turn on any automation by itself. You must create a workflow in Shopify Flow, configure its steps, test it, and turn it on.
Before You Begin
You need:
- FlashWombat installed on your Shopify store.
- Shopify Flow installed and available for your store.
- A product, FlashWombat campaign, or named QR placement that matches the automation you want to build.
Check Shopify's current Flow availability and limitations before relying on a workflow for store operations.
Available FlashWombat Steps
FlashWombat provides actions that a workflow can run and triggers that can start a workflow.
| Flow step | Type | Use it to |
|---|---|---|
| Create or update product QR placement | Action | Create a product-linked campaign and named QR placement, or safely update the asset already bound to that product automation. |
| Set QR campaign state | Action | Activate or deactivate a campaign while preserving its schedule and fallback settings. |
| Change QR fallback destination | Action | Replace or clear selected before-start, manually inactive, or after-expiry fallback destinations. |
| Run QR health check | Action | Check one QR placement and return a bounded health result for later Flow conditions. |
| QR placement needs attention | Trigger | Start a workflow when a placement enters an attention or broken state, or escalates from attention to broken. |
| QR campaign milestone reached | Trigger | Start a workflow at fixed attributed QR-visit milestones. |
See Use FlashWombat Flow Actions and Use FlashWombat Flow Triggers for setup details.
How Actions and Triggers Work Together
An action runs after another event starts the workflow. For example, a Shopify product event can run the Create or update product QR placement action.
A trigger starts the workflow. For example, QR placement needs attention can start a workflow that sends a staff notification through a Flow action you choose.
FlashWombat triggers do not send messages or change campaigns by themselves. Add the conditions and downstream Flow actions that suit your store, then turn on the workflow.
Important Limits
- Flow processing can be delayed. Do not treat a workflow as an immediate response system.
- Test important workflows before activating them and review their Flow run history after activation.
- The QR health check evaluates FlashWombat configuration. It does not prove that an external destination is reachable from every network or device.
- QR visit milestones count attributed, non-bot URL visits. They are not unique people or proven camera scans.
- FlashWombat does not provide a checkout-completed Flow trigger and does not attach Shopify Order or Customer objects to these QR triggers. Checkout analytics remain directional campaign signals.
