Automate Shopify QR Campaigns with FlashWombat and Flow

· 3 min read

QR campaigns often begin with a repeatable store event: a product is created, a launch is approved, a seasonal campaign ends, or printed material is prepared for distribution.

FlashWombat now provides actions for Shopify Flow, so those events can become part of a QR campaign workflow that you configure and control.

Four Actions for QR Campaign Operations

An active Flow workflow can run one of four FlashWombat actions:

  • Create or update product QR placement creates a product-linked campaign and named QR placement, or safely updates the asset already bound to the automation.
  • Set QR campaign state activates or deactivates a campaign while preserving its schedules, fallbacks, and printed QR identity.
  • Change QR fallback destination replaces or clears selected before-start, manually inactive, or after-expiry destinations.
  • Run QR health check evaluates one placement and returns a bounded result for later Flow conditions.

These actions are building blocks. You choose the Shopify trigger, add the conditions that fit your process, and turn on the workflow.

Create Product QR Placements Consistently

The product QR action is useful when every launch should follow the same campaign pattern.

You can choose a product-page or ready-cart destination, assign a placement category, build a name from product and variant details, and decide whether a repeated run should update the bound asset or create another one.

For ready carts, you can select a variant, quantity, and existing Shopify discount codes. FlashWombat uses the codes you supply; it does not create the discounts or guarantee that they are valid.

The action also protects existing work. A retry does not unexpectedly replace the active state or design of an asset that is already bound to the automation.

Keep Printed QR Material Useful Through Lifecycle Changes

A QR code can stay in circulation longer than the campaign behind it. The campaign-state and fallback actions help you plan for that reality.

You can deactivate a campaign without deleting its schedule or changing the public QR URL. You can also route visits to the store home page, a product, or another saved destination before a campaign begins, while it is manually inactive, or after it expires.

That means the printed code can keep the same identity while its lifecycle behavior changes behind the scenes.

Put a Health Gate Before Important Work

The health-check action evaluates one named placement and returns healthy, attention, broken, or could_not_complete. Later Flow conditions can use that result to continue a process, create a task, or stop work that depends on a healthy configuration.

The check focuses on FlashWombat configuration. It does not prove external DNS, TLS, regional availability, or destination content, so a physical test remains valuable before a large print run.

Build the Workflow Your Store Needs

FlashWombat does not activate a workflow when you install the app. Open Shopify Flow, create the workflow, add its trigger and conditions, configure the FlashWombat action, test it, and turn it on.
