Create Your First Shopify QR Code in Five Minutes
The fastest useful result is one dynamic product QR code that opens the expected Shopify product on your phone. This guide stops at that first successful scan; print preparation, launch, measurement, maintenance, and automation each have their own workflow guide.
Install FlashWombat
Install FlashWombat free from the Shopify App Store, choose the store you want to connect, and open the app in Shopify admin.
Check the Prerequisites
Before you create the campaign, confirm that:
- You have one active Shopify product and know which variant to use.
- The product page opens on your Online Store.
- Your FlashWombat plan has room for one more QR campaign.
You do not need a custom domain for this test. The default FlashWombat domain works immediately.
Create One Product QR Campaign
- In FlashWombat, open QR campaigns.
- Select Create QR code.
- Under What should shoppers do after they scan?, select Choose scan to view product.
- In Shopper destination, select the product and variant.
- Replace the suggested Placement name with the physical use, such as
Coffee bag — reorder panel. - Choose the matching Placement category.
- Select Review shopping QR and confirm the supporting campaign link, shopper action, product, variant, placement name, and category.
- Select Create QR code. Nothing is created before this confirmation.

Download the Default QR Code
On Your shopping QR is ready, select Download QR code. FlashWombat downloads the default solid-background PNG for the campaign's first named placement.
Keep this file as a setup test. Artwork design, print size, and production checks come later.
Confirm a Successful Phone Scan
- Open the downloaded QR code on another screen.
- Scan it with your phone's camera.
- Confirm that the browser reaches the selected Shopify product.
- Confirm that the product and variant context match what you selected.
You now have a dynamic QR campaign, its supporting campaign link, and its first named placement. You can edit the campaign destination later without changing the public address encoded in this QR code.
Continue with the Campaign Workflow You Need
Do not send the setup PNG straight to a full print run. Choose the next guide that matches the real campaign:
- Prepare and launch a product-packaging QR code for artwork checks, a production-size proof, launch, and early monitoring.
- Run a pop-up event QR campaign for posters, counter cards, lifecycle timing, and event closeout.
- Keep printed QR codes useful when destinations or campaigns change after deployment.
- Measure a QR campaign's supporting link when the same route will also be shared in digital channels.
- Configure an advanced QR campaign for schedules, fallbacks, passwords, raw destinations, or smart routing when available on your plan.
- Review Shopify Flow automation when QR campaign work becomes a repeatable store operation.
